Parrots and Pirates: The Long Island Parrot Expo
The Long Island Parrot Expo — which features an array of birds, vendors, and people in pirate costumes — is coming to Long Island on Saturday, October 5, 2019. The event holds the distinction of being Long Island’s only major exotic bird event comes around just once a year!
This year, the Expo will host a pirate ‘invasion’ by Ye Pyrate Brotherhood and three exotic animal/bird shows by Nature Nick. There will also be two educational workshops led by Concetta Ferragamo who is a certified animal behavior consultant, an array of avian veterinarians, ‘parrot’ face painting, vendors galore and plenty of photo opportunities. Each attendee will also receive a FREE, full color EXPO Journal and Resource Guide.
Anyone who attends the event can meet parrots and parrot lovers. Anyone considering adopting a feathers friend should inquire about the Parrot Society’s avian adoption referral service. Moreover, anyone who dresses like a pirate may win a prize in adult, vendor and ‘under 16’ categories! Judging will be held at 3 PM by the krewe of Ye Pyrate Brotherhood.
Nick Jacinto of “Nature Nick’s Animal Adventure” television program will also be on site. As a federally licensed master animal handler, Nick works with wildlife and endangered species. His shows are a treat to behold for animal lovers of all ages.
If you love animals — especially birds — and are in the Long Island area this weekend, it would be well worth it to swing by this fabulously fun show. Details are below:
