“The Awakening of Kate Chopin” Scheduled to Livestream on February 1

“The Awaken of Kate Chopin” is a dramatic and romantic play by author and scholar Rosary O’Neill. Directed by Maxwell Williams, the play will livestream over three sites (two on Facebook and one on YouTube) on February 1, 2021 8pm central time (9pm astern and 7pm pacific). The production will also be live streamed over the NOLA Theatre Folk Facebook Group, the Theatrecriticism.com Facebook page and Alan Smason’s YouTube Channel (Musiclovers169).

The cast will include actress Diana Shortez in the titular role of Kate Chopin, the pioneering American short story author and novelist. Jen Pagan will take on the role of Cuban vixen Maria Debouche. Albert Sampite and Oscar Chopin will be played by Michael Aaron Santos and James Yeargain. Christina Pellegrini Williams, Max’s wife and a highly regarded dramaturg, will assist in the production being produced by Alan Smason. The entire cast is very grateful to Rosary to her publishers Samuel French and to Actors’ Equity Association for their kind permission and assistance and look forward to bringing these vivid characters to life.
